Our Team

Comprised entirely of students from a wide variety of backgrounds, we are brought together by the shared passion for economics. Join us to contribute to the growth of GAEE UK here!

Matthew Howard

Co-Founder & Executive Director

As Executive Director, my role is to expand on the progress made by our team in improving financial literacy and introducing the field of economics to a wider audience. GAEE UK has enabled students across the country to produce insightful economic content as a result of our outreach operation. My interest in financial and behavioural economics has led me to produce several articles for GAEE UK, as well as hosting an interview with the economist Vicky Pryce. Managing, editing, and communicating with our partners and members is deeply rewarding. I look forward to all of the future events, articles, videos, and learning materials that our dynamic and motivated team will produce. We’re always looking for new team members, so reach out to me at uk@gaee.org to find out more.

Angelique Rees

Outreach Director

In an ever-changing world where economics holds the power to shape the way we live, I am proud to be a member of GAEE UK and its dedication to making economics accessible to students all over the UK. My passion for politics and how it drives the global economy has piloted me to produce articles. As Outreach Director it is also my task to contact schools and form partnerships as we strive towards equality and economic education for all.

Kaushal Agarwal

Macroeconomics Director

I quite enjoy the metaphor that describes economics as a vast and evolving forest. To study this forest, comes options. We can either roam the forest floor, taking precise samples of soil and measurements of bark on trees. Alternatively, we can fly over its canopy, see its geography, and examine its dimensions. Macroeconomists do the latter for our economy. What motivated me to join GAEE was to share the complexness of this forest – its simultaneous beauty and cruelty. Do learn and do enjoy.

Abshly Shaji

Political Economy Director

Everyone deserves an education. Not only is it crucial to the development of an economy, but it is the key which unlocks the door of opportunity. I didn't hesitate to join GAEE UK, having instantly recognised it as it a fun opportunity to provoke discussion on a subject that, despite being so relevant in our lives, is not always accessible. Economics can be complex, but I hope GAEE UK can help make the picture that little bit clearer.

Aditya Muthukumar

International Affairs Director

I love economics as a subject as there is (sometimes frustratingly!) never a correct answer, a far cry from my forte discipline of maths. The real-world nature of economics, having both tangible and imperceptible effects on our lives, makes it an exciting subject to read and write about. Writing for GAEE UK has given me the license to research a wide range of topics and expand my understanding of the economic world we live in and fuel a love of writing.

Brandon Chan (Yale ‘26)

Co-Founder & Inaugural Executive Director

Being part of a young, fast-paced, and perhaps naïve organisation is my way of conveying my love for economics. Whether it be devising our strategy, developing joint programs with our partners, or preparing for a guided learning session, every day comes with its dose of positive challenges that I look forward to tackling with my team. I am proud of what we have achieved, and look forward to what we will achieve. My particular fields of interests are microeconomics, econometrics, and game theory.

Agastya Nashier (Dartmouth ‘26)

Co-Founder & Former Executive Director

My profound interest in Economics has allowed me to contribute actively to the GAEE UK vision, and it is this passion that drives me every day. Whether it is writing economics articles and book reviews, organizing teaching sessions, or helping set up chapters at schools across the UK, I thoroughly enjoy every moment of the journey. I am particularly interested in developmental economics, behavioural economics and econometrics. It is also my job to ensure high standards for all economics content published by GAEE UK.

Simeon Andu (Oxford ‘26)

Former Senior Administration Director

GAEE UK has allowed me to spread my enthusiasm for economics with other students in the country. I am passionate about macroeconomics, with a particular interest in the Chinese economy, inequality, and environmental economics. I see GAEE UK as a vehicle to educate and expose a greater student population in the UK and beyond. I am proud of our vision and current accomplishments and believe we have a bright future ahead.
